Founded in 1894, Alden is the oldest continuously operating hydraulic laboratory in the United States and one of the oldest in the world. From the early days of hydropower development and aviation, through World Wars I and II, and into the modern world defined by environmental needs, Alden has been a recognized leader in the field of fluid dynamics consulting. The firm has approximately 100 employees and over 150,000 square feet of indoor lab space on a 32 acre campus in Holden, Massachusetts, and an additional 25,000 square feet of laboratory space in Redmond, Washington, constituting the largest hydraulic model organization in North America. Additional offices are located in Portland, Oregon and Fort Collins, Colorado.
