Am I Eligible?

To be eligible to take the PSC exam, candidates must either:

  • Be enrolled in a relevant technical degree or non-degree program, OR
  • Have attained an Associates or Bachelor’s degree, OR
  • Have at least six (6) months of related experience.

Master Core Knowledge of Pump & Systems

PSC is a broad certification, covering a wide array of topics. Even though they focus on the fundamentals, even experiend individuals may need a refresher. For less experienced or less technical individuals, and those looking for a refresher, training that covers all of the topics within the PSC Level 1 body of knowledge is available. What Do Candidates Need to Know?

PSC Level 1 validates that successful candidates have competencies that include, but are not limited to, and understanding of the following:

  • Pump curves, system curves, and their interaction
  • Pump types, motors, and variable frequency drives
  • Basic theory of rotodynamic and positive displacement pumps
  • Major pump components, terminology, and their purpose
  • Fluid properties important to pump selection and performance
  • Basic calculations, such as affinity rules, power, and energy
  • Basic concepts of variable speed pumping and other controls
  • Cause of common operating problems
  • Basic installation, maintenance, and operation principles
  • Typical application considerations
