ANSI/HI 3.6-Rotary Pump Tests
Overview:
This standard provides uniform procedures for testing and acceptance of the performance testing, hydrostatic testing, and NPSH/NPIP testing of rotary pumps.
Rotary pumps are commonly used in chemical, petroleum, slurry, water and wastewater, residential, and electric power applications. This standard aids pump manufacturers, specifying engineers, consultants, end users, and testing laboratories in specification, testing and acceptance of rotary pumps.
What’s New:
This standard supersedes the ANSI/HI 3.6-2016 edition. Updates in the new edition include:
- Corrected the table that lists the data to be measured for each type of test (I, II, III and IV)
- Clarified the definitions of level A and B acceptance grades and specified that level A is the default.
- Changed the metric units for pressure from bar to kPa, and adjusted the formulas accordingly.
- Added additional detail to fully describe the concepts of ‘fluctuation’ and ‘accuracy’ as it relates to data measurements.
- Updated the ‘test set up’ figure to show the preferred location of the discharge pressure control device if the flow meter can withstand discharge pressure. This preferred location creates less turbulence for the flow meter.
- Updated list of typical pre-run data to include details of the test fluid.
- Added details of direct flow measurement devices.
- Updated instrument calibration intervals based on current technology.
