January 9, 2025 (Parsippany, NJ) – The Hydraulic Institute (HI), the leading global authority on pumps and pump systems, is proud to announce the launch of its new Pump System Certification (PSC) program. Designed to help address the growing need for skilled professionals in the pump and fluid handling industries, this program provides a formal, industry-recognized certification to validate expertise in critical pump system knowledge.
“PSC is a milestone for the Pump industry,” said Tammy Moskal, Xylem’s Director, Product Compliance/Safety & Engineering Services, and the Vice President of Certification for the Hydraulic Institute. “It provides a standardized framework for recognizing and developing the essential knowledge and fundamental skills required for success in this field.”
Pump System Certification validates an individual’s understanding of 16 core knowledge areas needed for working with pumps and systems. Developed by industry experts, the certification addresses the growing skills gap by:
To support candidates preparing for the certification exam, Hydraulic Institute University, HI’s educational foundation, has developed a comprehensive training program. HI Executive Director, Michael Michaud, emphasized the importance of workforce development: “HI renewed its focus on fundamental pump training recently to respond to the industry’s need to train and on-board new employees. PSC is the important capstone that can now validate that learning – whether it comes from the newly expanded curricula encompassing HI 40.9 Pump Industry Fundamentals Body of Knowledge or as a supplement to an employer-based training and onboarding program. This certification will ensure that practitioners across the industry will have a common understanding of pump system fundamentals.”
“PSC benefits both employers and employees,” Moskal said. “Employers will gain a more skilled and knowledgeable workforce, while employees will have a valuable credential that enhances their career prospects.”
Interested individuals can register for training or apply to take the exam starting today, January 9th. For more information, please visit: https://www.pumps.org/psc
