At the Hydraulic Institute, we are committed to ensuring that our customers have secure, reliable, and flexible access to our digital publications. As a result of this commitment, we are revising our approach to digital rights management (DRM) by partnering with Vitrium. In June of 2025, the Hydraulic Institute will introduce changes to the way our customers access digital content.
NOTE: This update will NOT affect customers who purchase or subscribe from one of HI’s approved resellers.
We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions about how the update will impact your experience or need assistance, please reach out via our Customer Support Center.
These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible user experience while maintaining the integrity of our industry-leading content. Here are just a few of the reasons why we have decided to update our DRM process.
Our publications contain authoritative content developed by industry experts. Improved DRM helps safeguard this knowledge, ensuring it remains available and accurate for all customers.
Our updated DRM allows users to access content online by default while also offering offline viewing in a saved browser—without the need for third-party plug-ins. This provides greater convenience and accessibility rather than being tied to one specific device.
This improved DRM ensures that companies can effectively manage their subscription thereby allowing them to allocate seats efficiently while maintaining compliance with licensing agreements.
By integrating DRM with a modernized platform and single sign-on system, we are making sure customers have a seamless and future-proof experience when accessing our digital resources.
Below are some commonly asked questions about how these changes will impact purchases of HI publications and subscription access. If you need assistance, please reach out to us via our Customer Support Center.
For new purchases, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to access the content. Once you click the link, you will need to enter your account login credentials (same as used for purchase), and then you will be redirected to the site for online access.
To access content, you can login to your my account page (https://www.pumps.org/my-account/), access via the purchase confirmation screen, or via the confirmation email. After clicking the link, you may be prompted one more time to enter your credentials to access the content.
For subscribers of standards packages, the subscription URL will remain the same, but the login credentials will be updated to align with HI’s SSO. Additionally, the look and feel of the site will be different. The corporate admin functions will be similar, but, again, will look different. HI will conduct a training webinar for corporate administrators to orient them to the new platform.
Past purchases that are authorized on you local machine should not be impacted. In the event that you get a new computer, your old document will not be able to be reauthorized. If you need an old purchase reauthorized, please reach out to customer support center for assistance.
